Gift Wrap Station

I have a little Pinterest inspired organization for you today.

I few weeks ago, I saw this idea for storing gift wrap. The pin showed two big bike hooks, used as wrapping paper storage. Brilliant! My hubby picked up a package of hooks for me when he was at Lowes.

I found the studs and screwed them right into the wall. Done. (Sorry, Honey, I didn't even use a level or a tape measure. I just eyeballed it.) The wrapping paper is now off the floor and organized. Don't you just love Pinterest?

My crafting space is looking so organized!

Happy organizing!

Bar Keeper's Friend

Let me start by offering my sincere apology to the ladies at Williams Sonoma.  They have suggested this product to me for YEARS, and every time, I politely decline their offer to add a bottle of Bar Keeper's Friend to my purchase. It wasn't until I saw a pin on Pinterest, that I had to think twice about this product.

My plates look horrible.  I've had them for several years and my silverware leaves marks on my plates.  I wash the plates.  I scrub the plates.  The dishes are clean, but the marks are still there.

Here's a closer look.

I saw a before and after on Pinterest of someone who used Bar Keeper's Friend to remove the silverware marks from her plates.

Oh. My. Goodness.  Do you see this?

That's the same plate!

Seriously.  I would not lie to you... same plate!

It takes more than one try to make a believer out of me.  So, I took out one of my small plates.  Here's the before.

And now the after.

Hmmm.  The Williams Sonoma ladies always want me to buy this to use on my All-Clad.  Now, here is a tough stain.

Ummm, excuse me... why didn't anyone tell me about this?  Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma... did you know about this??? Ok, they probably did tell me about it, but I just didn't listen.

I'm tellin' ya, this stuff is amazing!  I bought mine at ACE hardware, but I know they also sell it at Williams Sonoma. (And when the ladies at Williams Sonoma try to tell you about this stuff, you need to listen to them.)

Happy dish washing!

Home and Family Friday

Last week's top link-up was this organized closet from An Oasis in the Desert.

I love organization.

One of my favorite links last week was the story telling CD that Rebekah made.  Story telling is a lost art and her post was amazing.

Ok, we're ready to see what you have for us this week!  I'd love it if you'd become a follower and grab my button.  Speaking of becoming a follower... there are 602 of you following along with this little blog of mine!  You guys are amazing.  I know I'm not able to reply to comments as much as I'd like, but please know that I appreciate every one!  Thanks for following along.

Pinterest Inspired Valentine Garland

My daughter, her friend, and I spent much of a snow-melting-Friday creating these Valentine garlands.

It looks adorable, running across our fireplace.

I found the idea HERE on Pinterest.  Reading the directions is impossible, but the pictures were easy to follow.  Here's the picture from Pinterest.

Pinned Image
My only suggestion is to make sure to string the garland at the top of the hearts.  Our hearts are a little top heavy and keep flipping over.

Happy sewing!

Home and Family Friday

I found it very amusing that the two most clicked on links, last week, were polar opposites.
Katie, from Raising Oranges, shared her cinnamon nuggets, covered in sugary yumminess.

Nancy, from Flatrock Cabin, shared her health altering muffins.

Clearly, you were all hungry for breakfast and just couldn't decide if you wanted to stick with the new year's resolution or bag it and go for the sticky cinnamon rolls.

We're ready for Home and Family Friday.  Please remember to click on links you think are interesting.  It helps me decide who to feature the following week.  I'd love it if you'd grab my button and become a follower.

Happy Friday!

The Snowmageddon Seven - Pounds, That Is

It started snowing last Sunday and it hasn't stopped since.  We are really not used to this around here.  An inch of snow shuts down schools and throws drivers into a tailspin.  Now the ice storm is here.

Picture from my local news website.

My shed looks like a little Christmas cottage, with a foot of snow on top.

The deck doesn't look ready for lounging any time soon.

Do you see this?  We have over a foot of snow!
The trees aren't holding up so well, and take a look at the pile on top of the picnic table!

My daughter has an ever-growing icicle collection.

We've all heard of the "freshman 15".  I'm calling this week's weight gain "the snowmageddon 7".  Don't you think that sums it up?  Too many home baked treats + lots of cocoa = snowmageddon 7.
Happy sledding, baking, cocoa drinking, and movie watching.
Stay warm Pacific Northwest friends!

Motivation

There are many reasons I love Pinterest.  I love the craft projects, kid projects, sewing projects, home decor inspiration, and cute outfits.  Lately, I've been noticing so many people pinning different motivators for excersize, diet, and weight loss.  I think it's great that Pinterest can motivate people in that way.

Me?  Well, I guess I'm more food motivated.  I saw this yummy recipe for donuts and was extremely motivated to give it a try!

Maybe I should rethink my motivation.  It might help my waistline a bit.

Well, for now, I'm enjoying my old fashioned donuts.  It's another snow day for us, so I'll see how many calories I can burn on the sledding hill.

Happy snow day!
